MUNICIPAL COMMITTEE KHANPUR

Khanpur is a city and Tehsil of the Rahim Yar Khan District, in the Punjab state of Pakistan. The city is agriculturally an economic influx as a centre for sugarcane and cotton crops. It is one of the largest Tehsils of the Rahim Yar Khan District, in terms of its area. The famous Cholistan Desert is mainly located in the Khanpur area. Khanpur is also known as Khanpur Katora; The Urdu word "Katora" is defined as the English word for bowl. This name is used as a common term because Khanpur has had a long history of producing clay bowls.

Khanpur is an ancient city it is said that its name was suggested by Nawab Bahawal khan Abbasi in 1806 and made khanpur. In 1874 it was given the Status of Municipality. It remained District Head Quarter till 1932.

As per Census 2023 population of City khanpur is 247170 person with an area of 17920 Acres.
